I’m Brienna Junae` LaCoste but most people know me as Breezy. I am a 17-year-old rising senior at Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois. I have to say I do love my city and am very proud to present myself as a Chicago native at events such as this one. Though I do frown upon the the heart- breaking conditions that have recently sent my city’s citizens into rage and certain neighborhoods into utter peril. The gang violence on the south side is just like you’ve seen in the movies. Pretty ridiculous huh? This year alone, with the 40 plus deaths of children (most innocent bystanders) has been a struggle for so many families (as one could imagine).
I’ve been dancing since the age of three; and since the age of eight, I’ve been doing it pretty well. I also enjoy singing and have recently learned how to play the acoustic guitar in its most simplistic stage. (I can play “Happy Birthday”) I am a huge “music head” and mainly listen to neo- soul, r&b, hip hop, pop, and some soft rock. According to my friends, Im the “mother- like” person of the group. And here’s a fun fact about me: I do believe that I may possibly have a slight case of OCD when it comes to organization. 🙂
Moving right along, I fell in love with writing in about 7th or 8th grade when essays were the only thing alive. The constance in writing made me realize that I had a lot to say and that I wasn’t too shabby at expressing it. Since then I’ve been writing… and writing… and writing. I will be editor of my school’s newspaper this year and plan to go into some field of journalism or communications at University of Missouri, George Mason, or another great university.
